Stories and highlights
There's always something to celebrate at our school! From exciting events to proud moments and everyday wins, here are some of our highlights.
A year at our school
We start the year off with Swim School then closely followed by our Community of Small Schools (CoSS) Swimming Carnival.
Our CoSS Athletics Carnival and CoSS Cross Country are the main sporting features in Term 2.
Our excursions happen in Term 3. In 2025, Years 5 & 6 went to Sydney to play the recorder at the Opera House. Years 3 & 4 went to Borambola and K-2 went to Altina Wildlife Park at Darlington Point.
Kapooka PS holds their school Athletics Carnival before our CoSS Athletics Carnival. We go up to the Base and the children get to have a go at all the events in preparation for the next carnival.
Being a Defence School, we actively work with our Members of Defence and include them in a variety of events, such as ANZAC Day.
Our students participate in a number of sports gala days. This year, both boys and girls across Stage 2 & 3, have had the opportunity to play in Netball, Soccer and AFL Gala Days.
Throughout the year, our school combines with other Small Schools to participate in Science Day, Naidoc Day, Public Speaking, Sports Days, etc. By combining with other Small Schools, this allows the students to widen their social groups which helps when they transition to High School.
Our Years 5 & 6 went to Sydney for their major excursion this year. They visited the Aquarium, played the recorder at the Opera House, saw the Museum and went on a tall ship.
Our school participates in the Wagga Wagga ANZAC Day Memorial Service every ANZAC Day. The School Captains normally have the privilege of laying a wreath at the Cenotaph.
Our students get a lot of opportunities to participate in local excursions such as Musica Viva, Riverina Environmental Education Centre, local schools for rehearsals for Chords, etc.
